I don’t know how far I can go with the agricultural metaphor but I can say that you should clear the fields and get ready to sow anew. In other words, get rid of all the strange programs and apps that you thought were a good idea at the time but which you’ve never used since you downloaded them!
Look at the apps on your PCs, Macs and phones and just check when the last time it was that you used them and I bet you’ll find at least three that are hovering around on page 2 or 3 that you can’t remember.
They won’t do any damage but unless you are one of the rich people that can afford lots of memory, you’ll eventually run out of space, usually just at a critical point when you are in the middle of taking some family shots!
Modern kit, phones, tablets, desktops and laptops are designed to control things themselves but do keep their work areas clear so you can give them the breathing space to move more quickly.
For our Apple friends, today marks the launch of another collection of iPhones, iPads and Operating Systems that will take us to the next level. I know that a lot of people will ask why we need more enhancements to our gadgets and my response is that unless we go forward we will stop growing. We can all live with voice assistants and moan when they get the wrong answer but think of all those people who actually need Siri or Alexa to go about their daily lives. Those who are blind or partially sighted, those who are immobile or severely incapacitated. Every little enhancement that has been validated by millions of people makes the lives of thousands more tolerable. This has been notable in the recent reports of Apple Watch warning users of changes in their heart’s behaviour. The latest version of the watch has a simple heart beat analyser which so far, has saved several users from incipient strokes or heart attacks. How much is that “gadget” worth?
I’ll run over the latest news from Apple next time. So, in the meantime, if you need me call
